How to use the app

How to use Hemline Dispatch day to day — the order stages, the daily routine, the due-date filters, and the Notify for Pickup button.

What the app is for

Hemline Dispatch replaces the paper slips. Every order is tracked from drop-off until the customer has picked it up and is happy — and it sends the pickup and review texts for you. You can look up any customer and see their full history, with the ticket photo, as your record.

The five stages of an order

Every order is always at one of these five stages, shown as a small numbered, colored tag. Orders move forward through them in order.

1. In Progress

Worker is making the item.

2. Ready for Pickup

Finished and hung at the front, ready for collection.

3. Notified for Pickup

Pickup text sent; waiting for the customer to collect.

4. Picked Up

Customer has collected the order.

5. Tried On & Happy

Customer is satisfied; eligible for a review request.

Taking an order along, step by step

At each stage the app gives you the one button you need to move it forward — you never have to remember the order.

  1. 1New order: tap New Order, photograph the ticket, check the details, and submit. It starts at In Progress. A big order on 2–4 tickets? Add the other photos with Add ticket on the review screen.
  2. 2When it's finished and hung up front: mark it Ready for Pickup — one at a time, or several at once.
  3. 3When you're ready to tell the customer: send the Pickup Notification. This texts them and moves it to Notified for Pickup.
  4. 4When the customer collects it: mark it Picked Up.
  5. 5When they've tried it on and are happy: mark it Tried On & Happy, then send a review request.

Rushed order the customer already collected? Open it and tap Already Picked Up — it skips Ready for Pickup, the pickup text, and Mark Picked Up in one go, sends nothing, and leaves Tried On & Happy available for the review.

Customer called to change something? Open the order and tap Edit details — the items, amount, pickup date, and notes can be changed at any stage.

Morning rack check

  1. 1Hang the day's finished garments on the rack.
  2. 2In the app, open Orders, stay on In Progress, and tap Today's Due Date.
  3. 3Compare the list to the rack. On the list but not on the rack → not finished or hung yet. On the rack but not on the list → its ticket photo was never taken at drop-off; add it now.

Finding orders by due date

  • Today / Tomorrow / This week / Through next week / Custom filter by when orders are due. They look forward from today — 'This week' means today onward, not back to Monday.
  • Overdue orders have their own red button with a count — tap it to see anything active that's past due. (They also always show in red on the list.)
  • If an order has no due date, a notice tells you it's hidden while a date filter is on, so nothing feels lost. Clear the filter to see it again.
  • Switch the list between compact and large photo view with the two icons near the top.

The Notify for Pickup button

On Home, the Notify for Pickup — N due button counts orders that are ready and due today or overdue — the ones that most need a text now. Tap it to review and send those texts together.

The Notify screen lists every ready order, with the due ones already checked, so it can show a few more than the button's number. The line at the top — 'X due now · Y ready early' — explains the difference. You always preview and can edit before sending.

Don't want them going out right now? Pick Schedule for later in the send preview — set it tonight and the texts go out at, say, 9:30 tomorrow morning. Scheduled texts show at the top of the Notify screen and can be cancelled any time before they fire.

Reviews

After an order is Tried On & Happy, Home shows a Pending reviews count. Open Reviews, pick who to ask, and send — each text uses your saved review message and link, editable before it goes out.

Quick tips

  • Red means overdue.
  • Act on several at once: tap Select, tick orders, then mark ready, send texts, or delete them together. The app only acts where it makes sense — 'Mark ready' only touches In Progress orders — so you can't move an order backward, and it tells you if it skipped any.
  • Deleting: open any order and tap Delete ticket at the bottom. Open a customer and tap Delete customer — it removes them together with all their tickets, after showing you exactly which ones. A promotion can be removed from its own page in the promotion history.
  • Every text is previewed first and can be edited before it sends.
  • Look up any customer from the Customers screen by name or phone — their page shows every past order with dates and the ticket photo.

While we're testing

This is a practice copy — its data can be reset, and text messages aren't actually sent yet (that switches on in a later step). Everything you see and tap works exactly as it will in the real thing.
